GTM strategy meaning

GTM strategy : A GTM strategy is the set of decisions about who you sell to, what you say, where you reach them and how they buy.

GTM strategy means go to market strategy. It is a short set of choices, not a long document: the target buyer and the moment they need you, the positioning line that explains why you are the answer, the lead channel where you will reach them, the motion that turns interest into customers, and the metrics that tell you it is working.

It differs from a GTM plan. The strategy answers what and why. The plan answers who does what, by when, with what budget. A strategy without a plan rarely gets executed, and a plan without a strategy produces activity without direction.

For AI products, a GTM strategy also has to address trust (buyers want to see the product work on real tasks), durability (positioning that survives the next model release) and discovery (early adopters of AI tools find them largely on X). Here, GTM means go to market, not Google Tag Manager.
