GTM strategy for AI products: the one page version

GTM Notesupdated 2026-10-163 min read

A GTM strategy is the set of decisions that gets your product from built to bought. For an AI product, it should fit on one page and be readable in two minutes.

01What a GTM strategy answers

Five questions. If you cannot answer one of them in a sentence, that is the work for this week.

  • Who buys: one buyer, one job, one trigger moment.
  • Why now: what changed (a model capability, a cost drop, a new workflow) that makes this possible today.
  • The one line: what it does, for whom, measured in an outcome they already care about.
  • Where they find you: one lead channel, two support channels at most.
  • How you know it works: the few numbers you will check every week after launch.

02What changes for an AI GTM strategy

An AI GTM strategy has the same skeleton with three extra pressures. Buyers have seen many demos and trust few of them, so proof beats claims. The category moves weekly, so your positioning must survive the next model release. And discovery happens in public, mostly on X, where builders and early adopters compare tools in real time.

Practical result: lead with a short video of the product doing a real task, name the specific workflow you replace, and plan to ship visible updates often enough that your account stays part of the conversation.

03Pick one lead channel

Most early AI products should lead on X. The founder account posts the build, the launch thread carries the demo video, and creators who already talk to your buyer amplify it. Product Hunt, communities, email and PR support that launch. They do not replace it.

If your buyer is a large enterprise with a procurement process, X still builds credibility, but the lead channel becomes outbound plus design partners.

04The one page layout

Write it as a single page with these blocks, in this order. Keep each block to two or three lines.

  • ICP and trigger
  • Positioning line and the alternative you replace
  • Lead channel and support channels
  • Launch date and the 30/60/90 day milestones
  • Budget range per channel
  • Weekly metrics
  • Owner for each block

05Common mistakes

Writing for everyone. Listing six channels with no owner. Describing the model instead of the job. Treating launch day as the strategy instead of one event inside it.

Takeaway

A good GTM strategy is short enough to remember: one buyer, one line, one lead channel, a dated plan and a handful of numbers.
